March 1 2019 | Planning Tips

April is the coolest month for a New Orleans wedding or honeymoon. Outdoor weddings are spectacular this time of year with our magnificent gardens and romantic courtyards in full bloom for spring. Plus, there's plenty going on in the city in April to lure your out-of-town guests here for your big day with a promise of big fun on the side. Here's what's up.

Crawfish Season

While we don't recommend pinching tails and sucking heads in a white wedding gown, a pre- or post-wedding crawfish boil can be a lot of fun. Your guests will bask in your love for each other while falling in love with New Orleans culture.

French Quarter Festival

April is peak festival season in New Orleans. It's already shorts weather but it's not so hot and humid that you want to hold your breath when you move from the air-conditioned cab to the air-conditioned  hotel. Over the last few years,  French Quarter Festival has become hugely popular with more than 500,000 people attending the free, four-day event which will be held April 11-14 this year. French Quarter Festival will be celebrating its 36th anniversary in 2019 on more than 30 stages throughout the Vieux Carré.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

Every year, Jazz Fest takes place during the last week of April and the first week of May. We can't think of anything better than spending your honeymoon with local New Orleans legends and big-name stars. The food alone is reason enough to make the pilgrimage to New Orleans this spring. Check out these Jazz Fest Tips from Best New Orleans Hotels, and see the 2019 Jazz Fest Line Up. You'll want to come back year after year to celebrate your anniverary at Jazz Fest.
