Messina’s Catering & Events Wins People’s Choice at
the 2025 Tasty Bites Competition.
When it comes to planning a wedding in New Orleans, the food is everything. Your guests may not remember what kind of flowers you carried, or the title of your first dance as man and wife, but they’ll still be talking about the Crawfish Beignets they had at your reception at your 50th anniversary. The right caterer is essential. That’s why we’re always thrilled to recommend Messina’s Catering & Events. And we’re pleased, but not surprised, to announce that Messina’s took home the 1st Place People’s Choice Award for Best Appetizer at the 2025 Tasty Bites Competition in August.
The culinary showdown brought together more than 25 of New Orleans’ top chefs, caterers, and bakeries. Guests sampled their way through innovative dishes while celebrity judges—including local food and media personalities like Poppy Tooker and Shelby Latino—helped crown the winners. But in the end, it was the crowd’s votes that gave Messina’s the top honor, thanks to Chef Mark Daniels’ creative showstopper: a Deconstructed Duck Rangoon drizzled with Satsuma Pepper Jelly Glaze.
The victory is just the latest recognition for Messina’s, who not only wow at culinary competitions but also shine at weddings and special events across the city. Known for menus that balance New Orleans tradition with creative flair, they make every reception a true feast. From intimate courtyard weddings to grand celebrations, couples can trust their big day will be filled with award-winning flavors when they choose Messina’s.
Even sweeter? Proceeds from the event supported Shuck Cancer, benefitting the American Cancer Society’s Access to Care Grant Program. So this win wasn’t just delicious—it also made a difference for the community.
With Messina’s, your wedding menu doesn’t just feed your guests—it gives them something to rave about. After all, if they can capture the hearts (and appetites) of New Orleans food lovers, imagine what they can do for your wedding day.
